Alexandria University—its leadership, faculty members, staff, and students—extends its heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, on the issuance of the political leadership’s decision appointing him as Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research within the new cabinet reshuffle. This appointment reflects the great confidence in his academic and administrative competence, as well as his extensive national experience.

Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa is regarded as one of Egypt’s most prominent academic and executive leaders. He possesses extensive experience in aligning the higher education and scientific research system with national development priorities and the requirements of the knowledge-based economy. During his presidency of Alexandria University, he led wide-ranging efforts to internationalize the University, establishing more than one hundred dual and joint degree programs with prestigious international universities across medical, scientific, engineering, and humanities disciplines.

He also oversaw the expansion of Alexandria University’s international branches, including the Abu Dhabi branch and the Malaysia branch scheduled to open in Fall 2026, in addition to planned expansions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Greece. Furthermore, he supervised the restructuring of the University’s branches in Chad and South Sudan, aiming to transform them into regional hubs for higher education in Africa.

During his tenure, Alexandria University witnessed significant progress in institutional development, digital transformation, the expansion of international and interdisciplinary academic programs, and the strengthening of global academic partnerships. He also reinforced scientific research and community engagement efforts, further enhancing the University’s regional and international standing.

Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa also spearheaded the establishment of the “Technology Park” at Alexandria University to transform research outputs and innovative ideas into added value for the knowledge-based economy. He supported green transformation trends in industry and blue economy applications, in addition to leading the establishment of Alexandria National University and advancing models of international education within Egypt.
