Professor Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, received Mr. Holger Martinsen, Ambassador of the Republic of Argentina to Cairo, along with the accompanying delegation, to discuss ways of strengthening joint cooperation between the two sides in scientific and cultural fields, in addition to supporting agricultural projects, student exchange programs, and proposals for exchanging expertise, in a manner that enhances academic relations between Alexandria University and Argentine universities.

The meeting was attended by Professor Dr. Hesham Saeed, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; Professor Dr. Affaf Al-Oufy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Professor Dr. Heba Salama, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture; Professor Dr. Ali Abdel Mohsen, Supervisor of the International Relations Office; Professor Dr. Sameh Shehata, Advisor to the International Relations Office; and Professor Dr. Boshra Salem, Assistant to the University President for International Rankings.

During the meeting, the University President reviewed avenues for enhancing joint cooperation in scientific and cultural fields, particularly in the agricultural sector, noting that the Faculty of Agriculture at the University adopts numerous scientific and applied research projects that serve sustainable development issues, including No-Till Farming techniques. He also emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise and cultures with Latin American countries, and promoting the teaching of both Arabic and Spanish languages, enabling faculty members, researchers, and students from both sides to establish collaborative relationships and joint scientific research with their counterparts in Argentina.

The President of the University also outlined the University’s strategy for strengthening international cooperation and expanding academic partnerships with prestigious global universities, through signing a number of international agreements that have resulted in the launch of dual and joint degree programs in various disciplines, contributing to providing competitive educational opportunities for students in accordance with international standards. He further referred to the University’s efforts to enhance its regional and international presence through the establishment of international branches in N’Djamena, Chad, and Juba, South Sudan, in addition to future branches planned in Abu Dhabi, Malaysia, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Greece. These branches aim to attract international students and promote academic and cultural exchange. He affirmed that these branches represent an extension of the University’s pioneering role on the international stage, support its global ranking, and enhance its position as a competitive educational and research institution regionally and internationally. He also referred to the International Branch Campuses (IBC), which offer joint educational programs with foreign universities within the university campus, thereby strengthening the internationalization of education and attracting international students.

He also addressed the University’s support for the research and innovation ecosystem and the linkage between research outputs and the needs of industry and the labor market through the Technology Park, which serves as an integrated platform for supporting innovation and transforming research ideas into practical applications and marketable products, thus enhancing the University’s role in achieving sustainable economic development.

For his part, the Argentine Ambassador expressed his deep appreciation for Alexandria University and its distinguished academic standing, affirming his country’s keenness to expand horizons of cooperation in educational and cultural fields, particularly in academic exchange programs, in a way that contributes to strengthening ties between the Egyptian and Argentine peoples and building sustainable academic partnerships between higher education institutions in both countries.

This was followed by a seminar held at the Faculty of Agriculture, during which the Argentine delegation visited the Service Center for the Tomato Production Chain and the Dairy Department, to review the latest research and practical applications in the field of sustainable agriculture.
