On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, the Alexandria University Council convened under the chairmanship of Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, President of the University. During the meeting, he expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the deans of faculties on the occasion of the completion of the first semester and examinations, commending their efforts during this period. He urged the prompt completion of grading and review processes, and the announcement of results as soon as possible, while adhering to the scheduled timelines, in the best interest of the students. He also directed the necessary measures to complete all maintenance and preparations within the faculties in anticipation of the second semester, to ensure a safe and suitable educational environment.

The University President called for joint efforts and cooperation during the suspension of the Tram El-Raml, starting February 1, 2026, as part of ongoing coordination with the Alexandria Governorate. He emphasized that the tram development project, alongside the Alexandria Railway Project, represents a qualitative leap in the public transportation system in the governorate, contributing to the creation of a modern and integrated transportation network connecting the city from east to west, enabling rapid mobility across its areas, and supporting urban development plans and the establishment of new urban communities in West Alexandria, in line with comprehensive development goals and improving citizens' quality of life.

The Council approved the adoption of the Student Code of Ethics and Conduct, aimed at promoting values of discipline, respect, and responsibility within the campus, guiding students toward positive behaviors that contribute to a safe and stimulating learning environment.

The Council also approved the launch of the Alexandria University Student Platform as a comprehensive portal providing student services. The first phase of the platform will offer access to e-books and interactive digital content, aiming to enhance the learning experience and support students in accessing educational materials more easily and effectively.

In line with Alexandria University’s commitment to uphold principles of integrity, transparency, and accountability in research, the Council approved the establishment of the Research Integrity Office, aligning with national and international trends in research governance and quality assurance, as an important institutional step to strengthen the university’s research system.

The Council approved the formation of the Council for Scholarships for Nile Basin and African Countries at Alexandria University, to study the scholarships offered by the university to African students and to monitor ongoing scholarships for students from African countries and the Nile Basin.

Dr. Omnia Mokhtar, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Business and Head of the University Programs Marketing Team, presented a detailed report on the outcomes of promotional campaigns for academic programs and dual degrees, highlighting the impact of these campaigns in reaching target markets and increasing enrollment, along with the future plan to expand marketing efforts and enhance the university’s position locally and internationally.

The Council honored Dr. Abeer Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, on the occasion of completing her term, in recognition of her dedicated efforts and continuous contributions to the development and advancement of the faculty’s educational and administrative system, wishing her continued success and distinction in her academic career.

The Council approved the allocation of 200 scholarships for new students and researchers applying for postgraduate diploma programs at the Faculty of Education for the first semester (Spring 2026) of the academic year 2025/2026, with a 50% discount on the tuition fee per credit hour.

The Council approved partnership agreements between Alexandria University and the Mediterranean Foundation for Infection (FMI) – Marseille, France, an academic exchange agreement with Tohoku University – Japan, and a memorandum of understanding with the BRICS Academy for Skills Development and Technological Innovation based in China, aimed at international cooperation in research, training, technology transfer, and consultancy services. Additionally, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Alexandria University and the Federal University of Ceará (UFC) – Brazil under the framework of cooperation between Alexandria University and Brazilian representatives in the BRICS network (NU).

The Council approved the terms of a tripartite cooperation protocol between Alexandria University Hospitals, the Egyptian Ethylene & Derivatives Company (ETHYDCO), and Health Care Company for the donation of a gynecological tumor endoscope to Al-Shatby University Hospital, valued at EGP 4.8 million, and another tripartite protocol between Al-Mouwasat Medical and Educational Complex, Alexandria Rotary Club – Raqouda, and Spectra Group for the donation of a blood component separation unit to Al-Mouwasat University Hospital, valued at EGP 1.5 million, as well as a donation from the Ministry of Health and Population to the Medical Research Institute in the form of a mammography device valued at EGP 15.5 million.

The Council approved the promotion of 35 faculty members, 17 to the rank of Professor, 18 to Associate Professor, and the appointment of 10 Lecturers, in addition to awarding 119 PhD degrees and 146 Master’s degrees in various scientific disciplines.
