In line with Alexandria University’s commitment to enhancing its efforts in community service and environmental development, Dr. Affaf Al-Oufy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, emphasized during the Alexandria University Community Service and Environmental Development Council meeting on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, the necessity of completing all maintenance work on lecture halls, laboratories, and buildings during the mid-term break of the academic year. She tasked faculty deans and health and safety officers with reviewing all safety regulations, fire systems, and electrical panels before the second semester of the academic year 2025/2026 begins.

Dr. Al-Oufy mentioned that a survey and categorization of the outdated equipment in the university’s faculties and institutes had been completed, and communication with the General Authority for Government Services had been made to begin dealing with these items as part of the university's institutional development efforts and removal of obstacles.

In the context of enhancing the skills of faculty members and administrative staff, the Vice President announced the commencement of a training program aimed at training 400 individuals from the university in cooperation with the National Training Academy. The program aims to provide human resources with leadership, personal, and innovative skill development programs.

The meeting also covered the Prime Minister’s directives regarding the establishment of shelters for stray dogs away from residential areas. Dr. Al-Aufi called for coordination with the relevant authorities on this matter, as part of the university’s initiative for a safe environment, which is being implemented by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine alongside other university faculties.

In a remarkable step, Dr. Affaf Al-Oufy announced the successful establishment of a fourth Career Development Center at Alexandria University, funded by the EUSEEDS project for employment, entrepreneurship, and digital skills. This project, launched by the Francophone University Agency, selected 20 universities from several countries to provide digital training programs and support the professional integration of students and new graduates.

Dr. Al Oufy also called for the implementation of the "Month of Goodness" initiative, which coincides with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan. The initiative aims to promote social solidarity by distributing Iftar meals, supporting needy families, and organizing community caravans. Detailed reports on the activities, events, and seminars carried out by the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the university during December and January were also reviewed, alongside their alignment with sustainable development goals.
