
Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, received today Ms. Deniz Cankaya, Consul General of Turkey in Alexandria, and Ms. Sabriye Kasa, Deputy Consul General of Turkey, as part of efforts to strengthen joint cooperation between the two sides in the academic, cultural, and research fields.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Hisham Saeed, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research; Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hakim, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Afaf Al-Oufy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; as well as Dr. Naglaa Abu Agag, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts for Graduate Studies and Research; and Dr. Magdy Agamia, Professor of Comparative Literature and Persian Language and Literature at the Faculty of Arts.
During the meeting, Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa welcomed the Consul General to Alexandria University, affirming the University’s keenness to develop cooperative relations and exchange expertise with Turkish academic institutions in various fields of mutual interest. He highlighted the University’s strategy aimed at internationalizing education through dual and joint degree programs with leading international universities, in addition to the University’s branches inside and outside Egypt. He also emphasized supporting the knowledge economy by utilizing research outputs to serve industry through the Alexandria University Technology Park.
Dr. Konsowa affirmed Alexandria University’s commitment to providing all forms of support to Turkish students enrolled at the University, facilitating their cultural and social integration, and overcoming any obstacles they may face. He also expressed the University’s readiness to act as a technical expertise hub for Turkish factories and companies operating in Egypt, contributing to solving the technical challenges they encounter. Dr. Konsowa further referred to the existing academic cooperation with several Turkish universities, including Istanbul, Ankara, and Atatürk Universities, expressing his aspiration to expand this cooperation to encompass education, culture, and joint research projects, in a way that directs scientific research toward serving industry and sustainable development.
For her part, Ms. Deniz Cankaya praised the distinguished academic standing of Alexandria University, stressing the Turkish side’s keenness to enhance academic, research, and cultural cooperation with the University, particularly in the fields of humanities, Turkish language education, and Turkish literature. She also emphasized cooperation in applied research that serves industry and meets labor market needs through the implementation of joint research projects, the exchange of scientific expertise, support for student and faculty exchange programs, encouragement of joint supervision of theses, and the development of joint academic programs and courses that contribute to deepening cultural understanding and exchanging academic expertise between the two sides.
