Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, congratulated the team of the Stroke and Neurointerventional Unit at Smouha University Hospital on receiving the international SILC accreditation issued by the American Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology (SVIN). He affirmed that this medical and scientific achievement places the university hospitals among the leading global centers in the field of neurointerventional catheterization and stroke treatment. He added that the accreditation reflects the tremendous efforts exerted within the unit and its commitment to applying modern diagnostic and treatment standards.

This accreditation was awarded during the annual conference of the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology held in the United States of America, where the Stroke and Neurointerventional Unit at Smouha University Hospital was selected as one of the first units outside the United States to receive this prestigious international recognition.

For his part, Dr. Tamer Abdullah, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board, stated that this accomplishment is the result of collective work and continuous efforts to advance medical education within university hospitals. He noted that the accreditation reflects the exceptional capabilities of Alexandria University’s medical staff and their possession of skills comparable to leading global centers. He explained that the Stroke and Neurointerventional Unit is considered one of the centers of excellence within Alexandria University Hospitals, providing services according to the latest international protocols for the treatment of stroke and cerebrovascular injuries—reinforcing the role of university hospitals in delivering high-quality healthcare to the community.
