As part of the presidential initiative "Tamkeen" to support students with disabilities within Egyptian universities, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hakim, Vice President of Alexandria University for Education and Student Affairs, affirmed during the meeting of the Education and Student Affairs Council held yesterday, the university’s commitment to providing comprehensive support for its students with disabilities. This comes in implementation of the directives of the political leadership and within the framework of the "Tamkeen" initiative launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, aimed at strengthening the integration and empowerment of students with disabilities within the university community.

Dr. Abdel Hakim explained that Alexandria University is working to develop an integrated academic accessibility system that ensures the creation of an inclusive educational environment that meets the needs of all students, and promotes the principles of equality and equal opportunities across all faculties. He also highlighted the importance of cooperation and coordination between university faculties and the Taha Hussein Center for Services for Students with Disabilities, in order to enable these students to access academic content on an equal basis with others, develop their skills, and involve them in various student activities to help them overcome challenges throughout their university journey.

The Council also approved activating the role of the University Student Psychological Support Center as one of the essential pillars for ensuring a healthy and balanced educational environment. The presence of a specialized entity for psychological counseling and support has become a necessity rather than a luxury, as the center plays a key role in helping new students integrate into the university environment, adapt to academic life, and in the early detection of psychological issues before they escalate.

Dr. Abdel Hakim further stressed the importance of adhering to the regulations governing the smooth administration of first-semester midterm examinations, and providing all necessary support and suitable conditions within examination halls to help students perform their exams in a calm and appropriate atmosphere.

He also directed faculty vice deans to continue activating the role of academic advising across all faculties, and to maintain ongoing communication channels with students to introduce them to academic regulations and study systems, as well as to encourage high achievers and talented students, and support students who may be facing academic difficulties. This contributes to improving students’ performance, developing their capabilities, and guiding them toward academic success
