As part of Alexandria University’s strategy to support and empower people of determination, and under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hakim, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, attended the “Tamkeen” (Empowerment) ceremony organized by the Taha Hussein Center for Students with Disabilities. The event was held at the Faculty of Engineering Theater and aimed to enhance the inclusion of people of determination within the university community and empower them both academically and socially.

The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Walid Abdel Azim, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Wael El-Moghlany, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Alaa Gamie, Executive Director of the Taha Hussein Center, along with a number of deans, vice deans, faculty members, and students from various faculties.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hakim affirmed that Alexandria University gives special attention to supporting students with disabilities, in line with the Egyptian state’s vision that reflects the principles of the New Republic, which emphasizes the care of people of determination and the creation of an inclusive educational environment that ensures equal opportunities for all students.

He explained that the university adopts a set of initiatives and programs designed to empower students with disabilities — through academic accommodations as well as active participation in community and student activities. He noted that the “Tamkeen” initiative embodies the university’s mission toward sustainable development and social justice, highlighting the talents and creativity of these students as inspiring examples within the university community.

Prof. Dr. Abdel Hakim also praised the outstanding role of the Taha Hussein Center in providing comprehensive support and care for students with disabilities, extending his appreciation to parents for their continued cooperation and efforts to help integrate their children into university life.

For her part, Dr. Alaa Gamie expressed her delight at concluding the activities of the “Tamkeen Week”, which crowned a year full of initiatives by the Taha Hussein Center to support and empower students with disabilities. She emphasized that employing arts is an effective tool for developing students’ personalities and enhancing their integration within the university community.

The ceremony featured a documentary film highlighting the activities of the Taha Hussein Center and inspiring success stories of Alexandria University students with disabilities, in addition to artistic and theatrical performances presented by the students themselves. The performances received great interaction from the audience, reflecting the students’ creativity and reinforcing the university’s commitment to supporting and empowering people of determination.
