- The Community Service and Environmental Development Council at Alexandria University held its meeting on Sunday, October 19, 2025, chaired by Dr. Affaf Al-Oufi, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, to review the sector’s strategic plan aimed at continuing the development of the work system and enhancing the university’s role in community service.
- Dr. Al-Oufi affirmed the university’s keenness to implement a comprehensive plan to further develop the sector, including setting specific goals for each faculty in line with the overall development strategy of Alexandria University. She explained that the plan is based on several main pillars, including supporting the implementation of governance principles in faculties, intensifying environmental and community activities, expanding medical and service convoys that contribute to serving villages and areas most in need, and promoting the integration of individuals with special needs within the university community.
- Dr. Al-Oufi also called for thorough preparation to participate in the new cycle of Egypt’s Government Excellence Award, through the establishment of an independent Government Excellence Unit in each faculty consisting of three members, responsible for following up and implementing all axes related to the award to improve institutional performance and achieve quality and governance standards.
- The Vice President further emphasized the importance of activating the Occupational Safety and Health Administration within university facilities, stressing the need to begin a comprehensive inspection of all buildings, laboratories, electrical panels, and rooftops in preparation for the rainy season, to ensure the safety of individuals and facilities.
- Dr. Al-Oufi also listened to the reports of the faculties’ vice deans regarding their readiness to implement the crisis and disaster management system, as well as emergency and evacuation plans to face any potential incidents.
- The council discussed granting certificates of appreciation to outstanding students in recognition of their contributions to community service and environmental activities.
- The council was informed of the Supreme Council of Universities’ circular regarding the prohibition of smoking within university premises, where Dr. El-Oufi directed the intensification of seminars and awareness campaigns on the dangers of smoking, in addition to enforcing fines on violators.
- The council also reviewed reports on the activities and events carried out during July and August 2025, which included educational seminars, employment fairs, conferences, workshops, training courses, medical and service convoys, and various community activities, along with celebrations of the anniversary of the glorious October Victory and reports on literacy classes organized by the university’s different faculties and institutes.
