Alexandria University hosted a meeting of the Basic Sciences Sector Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities on Wednesday at the Faculty of Science in Moharram Bek. The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Sayed Abdelazim El-Sharkawy, former President of Suez University and Chairman of the Basic Sciences Sector Committee. The meeting was attended by several deans of faculties of science, representatives of sector faculties at Egyptian universities, and a number of experts and specialized committee members.

The committee was received by Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, who, in his welcoming remarks, expressed his pleasure at hosting this important academic event at the university. He emphasized Alexandria University's full support for the faculties of science and the academic sectors concerned with basic sciences, given their pivotal role in advancing scientific research and university education in Egypt

In this context, Dr. Konsowa congratulated Dr. Abdelfattah El-Sayed, Dr. Mohamed Ismail Abdo, and Dr. Mohamed El-Safi Abdelsalam Ali on receiving the State Appreciation Awards and the Pioneers Encouragement Awards in the fields of agricultural sciences, advanced technological sciences, and physical sciences. He expressed the university's pride in this distinguished group of scientists.

The University President also reviewed Alexandria University's strategy aimed at developing the educational and research process by modernizing undergraduate laboratories in the Faculties of Science, supporting dual and joint academic programs with international universities, strengthening the university's branches abroad, supporting partnerships with international universities in Borg El Arab Campus, and establishing Alexandria University Technology Incubators, which aim to transform applicable research into practical projects that serve the economy and industry. Dr. Konsowa emphasized that these efforts are part of the university's efforts to enhance its competitiveness at both the regional and international levels and to keep pace with global developments in the field of research and education. He expressed his hope that the committee would produce constructive recommendations that would contribute to the development of the basic sciences system in Egyptian universities.

For his part, Professor Dr. Sayed El-Sharkawy expressed his great happiness at being at Alexandria University, extending his thanks and appreciation to its administration, headed by Dr. Konsowa, for the warm welcome and organization of the event. He also praised the university's remarkable development in academic and research fields, wishing it continued progress and prosperity.

It is worth noting that the Basic Sciences Sector Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities includes a select group of deans of science faculties and institutes, as well as experts in scientific disciplines from various Egyptian universities. The committee is responsible for setting policies and standards for developing basic science programs and enhancing the quality of education and scientific research in this vital sector.
