Dr. Ali Abdel Mohsen, Vice President of Alexandria University for Education and Student Affairs, received on behalf of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, a delegation from the Uzbekistani Media Center "Ziyo" headed by Mr. Abdul Hamid Mukhtarov, Media Director of the Center. The delegation was briefed on Alexandria University's experience in the fields of education, cultural diversity, and addressing contemporary intellectual challenges.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Sameh Shehata, General Supervisor of the University's International Relations Office, and Dr. Taha Najm, Head of the Department of Mass Communication at the Faculty of Arts.
During the meeting, Dr. Abdel Mohsen emphasized the depth of academic cooperation between Alexandria University and several Uzbek universities in various fields, including academic exchange and joint scientific research. This reflects the shared desire to strengthen knowledge and cultural bridges between the two sides. He also reviewed the university's role in promoting the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence through organizing seminars, cultural dialogues, and joint student activities. He also highlighted cooperation with official religious institutions to organize awareness lectures on campus, which reinforces correct religious concepts and protects students from misinformation.
Dr. Shehata gave a comprehensive presentation on Alexandria University, discussing its origins and development, its international branches outside Egypt, and the agreements signed with several internationally ranked universities, which have resulted in joint academic programs and dual degrees. He also reviewed the university's centers of excellence and their role in supporting innovation and scientific research.
Dr. Taha Najm emphasized that building critical and digital awareness among students is a pillar of the college's academic work. He noted that Alexandria University places great importance on integrating media literacy into its curricula and cooperating with state institutions to disseminate reliable scholarly discourse. He explained that many of the research and studies conducted within the Department of Media address issues of extremism, focusing on the psychological, social, and economic aspects of the phenomenon, as well as ways to develop a rational religious discourse that enhances student awareness against intellectual and religious extremism.
For their part, members of the Uzbekistani Media Center "Ziyo" delegation expressed their happiness with their visit to Alexandria University, praising the academic development and cultural awareness they witnessed, which reflects the university's standing regionally and internationally. They emphasized that the efforts they witnessed in supporting the values of coexistence, improving the quality of education, and opening up to international universities represent a model to be emulated in the region. They also expressed their aspiration to enhance cooperation between Uzbek universities and Alexandria University in the fields of scientific research, academic exchange, and media expertise.
