In its session held today, Tuesday, June 24, 2025, chaired by Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, the Alexandria University Council congratulated President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and the great people of Egypt on the twelfth anniversary of the glorious June 30 Revolution. During this revolution, the Egyptian people wrote a great national epic, marking a turning point in their lives as they sought to regain their identity and freedom. Egypt has become an oasis of security, safety, and stability in the region, and a safe haven for its people and all those who seek refuge there.
- The Council also congratulated all university members, including faculty members, staff, and students, on the occasion of the New Hijri Year 1447, praying to God Almighty to bring this momentous occasion to Egypt and the Islamic nation with goodness, progress, prosperity, and stability.
The University President thanked all university members, including deans, vice deans, faculty members, and administrators across all faculties and institutes, on the conclusion of the 2024/2025 academic year. He emphasized the need to complete the monitoring, correction, and appraisal of graduation projects for final-year students and to promptly announce their results so that male students can apply for military service on the scheduled dates. He also emphasized the need to announce the results for the remaining academic years as quickly as possible.
The Council approved the timetable for the 2025/2026 academic year. Classes will begin on September 20, with final exams for the first semester beginning on January 1, 2026. The mid-year break will begin on January 24, 2026. The second semester will begin on February 7, 2026, and the second semester will conclude on May 21, 2026.
The University President directed the need to utilize the summer vacation to carry out required maintenance work on laboratories and facilities across all faculties and institutes. He also directed the formation of a committee headed by the Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development to develop a comprehensive plan for maintenance work on facilities, laboratories, classrooms, and university dormitories, and to review all occupational health and safety aspects. He emphasized the need to complete all this work and fully equip classrooms, laboratories, and lecture halls across all faculties and institutes before the start of the new academic year 2025/2026 to provide an academic environment that contributes to improving the quality of teaching and learning.
The University President also directed the preparation of a plan for summer student activities, including sports, arts, and cultural programs, and the organization of camps and training courses for students.
- The Council approved the cooperation agreement between Alexandria University and Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar; the memorandum of understanding between Alexandria University (Higher Institute of Public Health) and the WHO Collaborating Centre for Public Health Education and Training, Royal College of Science, Technology, and Medicine in the United Kingdom; and the memorandum of understanding between Alexandria University (Faculty of Science) and the Department of Gifted and Talented Students and Smart Learning at the Alexandria Directorate of Education.
- The Council approved the promotion of 14 faculty members, 8 to the position of professor, 6 to the position of associate professor, the appointment of 18 lecturers, and the awarding of 76 doctoral degrees and 178 master’s degrees in various scientific disciplines.
