Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, received this morning Dr. Mark Gillam, President of the International Association for the Study of Traditional Environments (IASTE) and Chair of the Department of Architecture and Planning at the University of Oregon.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Alexandria University, the International Association for the Study of Traditional Environments (IASTE), and American universities. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 20th IASTE Conference in Alexandria, which has been held in various countries since 1988.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Gihan Gewaifel, Assistant President for Internationalization of Education and International University Branches, Dr. Walid Abdelazim, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Dr. Ziad El Sayyad, Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture.
In his speech, Dr. Konsowa welcomed Dr. Gillam to Alexandria University, emphasizing the university's commitment to cooperating with the International Association and enhancing cooperation with internationally ranked American universities and academic institutions in the fields of education, scientific research, and community service. This is part of the university's strategy to internationalize education and achieve global competitiveness. He also highlighted cooperation between the two sides through the Alexandria University Technology Park in the field of scientific research related to serving industry. He also highlighted Alexandria University's active participation within the governorate, providing advisory services for development projects aimed at urban development in various fields, such as sustainable green transportation, rainwater management, coastal protection, heritage and environmental preservation, and enhancing the civilized appearance of important squares within Alexandria Governorate.
Dr. Gillam expressed his appreciation for the distinguished level of Alexandria University, its vision for internationalizing education, and the breakthrough it has achieved in recent years. He reviewed the efforts of the University of Oregon and the International Association for the Study of Traditional Environments in education, training, and scientific research, emphasizing his aspiration to develop cooperation with Alexandria University in various scientific fields.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed opportunities for cooperation between the two universities, including arranging preliminary cooperation to exchange expertise, students, and faculty members, organizing joint workshops, and coordinating joint studies to explore future cooperation at the level of joint programs and degrees, scientific research, and entrepreneurship
