Within the framework of the political leadership's directives on the necessity of raising awareness among young people and developing their sense of belonging, and under the patronage of Dr. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, President of Alexandria University, the Military Education Department at Alexandria University organized an educational lecture entitled "External Threats and Internal Challenges Facing the Egyptian State", at the Faculty of Business, Alexandria University, in which His Excellency Major General Staff Dr. Ashraf Mazhar, Fellow of the National Defense College at the Military Academy for Higher Strategic Studies, lectured.
The seminar was attended by Dr. Ayman Shetwi, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Business, Colonel Mohamed Maher Abdel Aziz, Director of the Military Education Department at Alexandria University, Lieutenant Colonel Shehab El-Din Magdy, Deputy Director of Military Education at Alexandria University and the Military, and the faculty and administrative staff members at the college.
At the beginning of the symposium, Dr. Ayman Shitwi welcomed the attendees, pointing out the goal of holding these educational symposia, which is to promote national values among young people, combat misconceptions, and define intellectual terrorism and the weak points that may lead to exposure to intellectual confusion and effective steps to confront and prevent them. He also pointed out the social dimension, which is an influential factor in national security. Dr. Shitwi stressed the importance of achieving psychological stability, preserving the stability of the Egyptian family and increasing internal cohesion among them. He concluded his speech with this phrase: “Make Egypt your destination and do not deviate and never abandon it. May God protect the homeland. May God protect our Egypt from what is almost safe for it, and it will remain, God willing. Long live Egypt, long live Egypt, long live Egypt.” The symposium addressed several main topics, including the most prominent challenges facing the country in various fields, whether internal or external, stressing the importance of concerted efforts to confront and overcome them, and stressed the importance of raising awareness of the risks facing the country and the need for students to understand these risks and confront them by all available means, and stressed the importance of the role of youth in protecting the country and its future, as Major General Mazhar stressed the importance of these symposiums in increasing national awareness among students, enhancing the spirit of belonging and loyalty to the country, and qualifying them to be active and responsible citizens capable of serving their community and country.
At the end of the symposium, an open dialogue was held between Major General Mazhar and the students, during which he answered their inquiries and questions about the various issues raised, stressing the importance of the role of youth in building the future of the country, and called on them to show responsibility and awareness, and to contribute effectively to the process of development and progress.
Colonel Mohamed Maher pointed out that this symposium comes within the framework of Alexandria University's keenness to develop national awareness among its students, and educate them about the issues and challenges facing the country. These seminars are part of the activities organized by the University’s Military Education Department, which aim to prepare students to be good citizens capable of assuming their responsibilities towards the nation and society.
