
Under the patronage of Prof. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University, the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science launched yesterday the activities of its 9th Annual Scientific Conference, chaired by Prof. Sherine Nossier, Acting Dean of the Faculty and Conference Chair, with the participation of a distinguished group of academics, experts, policymakers, and researchers from Egypt and several Arab countries.
The opening session was attended by senior representatives of the Egyptian Naval Forces and the Egyptian Naval Academy, members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, deans of Alexandria University faculties, faculty members, representatives of civil society organizations, media professionals, as well as researchers and students.
In her opening remarks, Prof. Sherine Nossier emphasized that the conference reflects the Faculty's commitment to supporting scientific research and fostering academic dialogue on national, regional, and international issues, contributing to community service and sustainable development efforts. She noted that the conference aims to examine current economic and political developments at both the national and international levels, while presenting evidence-based recommendations to support decision-makers and reinforce Alexandria University's role as a national center of expertise serving society and development.
The conference program featured a specialized experts' session, in addition to several scientific sessions addressing a range of contemporary economic and political issues, including the green economy, digital transformation, industrial legislation, media and foreign policy, environmental geopolitics, the Palestinian cause, and the rise of the far right in Europe.
The first day's activities concluded with honoring the chairs of the scientific sessions, reviewers, and discussants. The conference will continue today, Thursday, with the announcement of its final recommendations.
