
As part of its pioneering role in supporting scientific research and enhancing community awareness, the Faculty of Sports Sciences for Girls at Alexandria University organized a series of distinguished scientific and awareness activities on Monday, February 16, 2026.
The events were held under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of the University; Dr. Hisham Saeed, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; Dr. Afaf El-Awfi, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Dr. Doaa El-Dardiri Abu El-Hassan, Dean of the Faculty, with the participation of the faculty’s vice deans and under the supervision of Associate Professor Wafaa Gaber Mohamed Ibrahim, General Coordinator of Seminars, Workshops, and Activities in the Community Service Sector, and Professor Rasha Abdel Qader, Director of the Faculty’s Anti-Violence Against Women Unit.
The activities commenced with the first session of the Sports Sciences Scientific Salon (Author & Book), organized by the Graduate Studies and Research Sector. The session featured a discussion of the book “Therapeutic Recreation” by Professor Dr. Samia Hassan, and was moderated by Professor Dr. Safwat Gomaa. The session highlighted the importance of fostering a culture of critical reading and deepening academic dialogue among faculty members and researchers.
In a related context, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, in cooperation with the Department of Curricula and Teaching Methods of Physical Education, organized a seminar entitled “Employing Artificial Intelligence in Physical Education Lessons.” The seminar was delivered by Associate Professor Mohamed Wahid Suleiman, Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Technology at the Faculty of Specific Education – Alexandria University. The session addressed AI applications in the educational process, key tools supporting performance development in physical education classes, as well as ethical and legal considerations and practical implementation requirements.
Additionally, the Community Service Sector, in collaboration with the Anti-Violence Against Women Unit, organized an awareness seminar entitled “Behavioral Addiction.” The seminar was delivered by Professor Dr. Hend Hassan Abdel Moneim, Professor of Internal Medicine, General Director of the New Alexandria University Hospital, and Director of the Emergency Unit at the Main University Hospital. The lecture discussed types of addiction, their causes and effects, and the role of the state and community institutions in prevention and treatment efforts.
For her part, Dr. Doaa El-Dardiri, Dean of the Faculty, affirmed that organizing these diverse activities in a single day reflects the Faculty’s vision of integrating scientific research with community service. She noted that the scientific salon stimulates intellectual and research activity, while awareness seminars and applied workshops enhance students’ understanding of contemporary issues and empower them to employ modern technologies ethically and responsibly. She added that the Faculty is committed to preparing graduates equipped with scientific knowledge, social awareness, and innovative capabilities, in line with the University’s strategic orientation toward supporting sustainable development.
The activities concluded with an open discussion session with students, in an interactive and enriching atmosphere that strengthened communication between speakers and attendees, reaffirming the Faculty’s commitment to fostering a supportive educational environment that promotes creativity and social responsibility.
