Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and Prof. Dr. Said Allam, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Faculty of Business organized a seminar on Wednesday, May 21, titled "Corruption in Scientific Research: Practices and Prevention Methods."
The event aligns with the implementation of Egypt’s National Anti-Corruption Strategy and the country's commitment to the United Nations Convention against Corruption.

The seminar was held under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Ayman Shtiwy, Dean of the Faculty of Business, and Prof. Dr. Alaa El-Gharbawy, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, in support of the university’s role in achieving the fourth strategic objective of the national strategy — building a society that is aware of the dangers of corruption and capable of confronting it.

Prof. Dr. Mokhtar Youssef, former Vice President of Alexandria University for Graduate Studies and Research, delivered the keynote lecture. He highlighted the distinctions between plagiarism, citation, and academic theft as different forms of corruption in research. He emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between universities and oversight bodies to promote transparency, and recommended the inclusion of academic integrity content in university curricula.

The seminar was attended by several prominent academic figures and experts, including:

  • Prof. Dr. Omnia Mokhtar, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, Faculty of Business
  • Prof. Dr. Said Abdelaziz, former Dean of the Faculty and former Governor of Al-Sharqia
  • Prof. Dr. El-Sayed El-Seify, former Dean of the Faculty
  • Prof. Dr. Mayada Abdelkader, General Coordinator of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy at Alexandria University and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law for Graduate Studies and Research
  • Dr. Hani El-Menshawy, Chairman of the Federation of Industries Association
  • Dr. Adel Antar, Deputy General Coordinator of the Strategy at Alexandria University
  • Dr. Heba El-Taweel, Coordinator of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy at the Faculty of Business

The event is part of the university’s ongoing efforts to foster a culture of transparency and academic honesty, and to encourage ethical, impactful scientific research
