Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, received a delegation from Beirut Arab University, which included Dr. Ammar Al-Houry, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Endowment for Charity and Benevolence (Waqf Al-Birr wal Ihsan) in Lebanon - Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Beirut Arab University, Dr. Wael Nabil, President of Beirut Arab University, and Dr. Omar Al-Houry, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Al-Birr wal Ihsan Endowment, with the aim of enhancing ways of cooperation between the two universities, exchanging experiences, and discussing establishing an international campus of Beirut Arab University in cooperation with Alexandria University. The meeting was attended by Dr. Saeed Allam, Vice President of Alexandria University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Hisham Saeed, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, Acting Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Gihan Gewaifel, Assistant to the University President for International University Branches.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa welcomed the university’s guests, stressing the depth of the historical relations between Alexandria University and Beirut Arab University since the establishment of the latter in 1960, with the support of the Egyptian state and Alexandria University. He pointed to the university’s keenness to continue and support these relations, explaining the goal of the visit, which is to activate aspects of academic cooperation between the two universities at the both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in light of the cooperation agreement that the two sides signed last March in the presence of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The two sides also discussed the possibility of establishing an international branch of Beirut Arab University in cooperation with Alexandria University on the Alexandria University’s campus ground in the city of Borg El Arab, in order to support cooperation relations between Egypt and Lebanon in various educational fields. Dr. Konsowa pointed out that the proposed international branch will award certificates to graduates bearing the logos of both Alexandria University and Beirut Arab University, in addition to offering modern and advanced study programs that meet the needs of the international, regional and local labour markets, indicating that the university branch will provide distinguished education in which Alexandria University faculty members will participate to benefit from their experience and skills in all different scientific disciplines.
While Dr. Ammar Al-Houri expressed his feeling of pride in cooperating with Alexandria University, which enjoys a distinguished scientific standing, and which has provided unique support over several decades to Beirut Arab University, including human cadres of faculty members and experts in various scientific fields. Al-Houri appreciated the cooperation with Alexandria University to complete this journey to achieve a prominent Arab and international status for both universities.
Dr. Wael Nabil Abdelsalam, President of Beirut Arab University, explained the university’s intention to expand the establishment of new study programs that meet the labour market inside and outside Lebanon, in a number of university campuses in Lebanon, such as the Tripoli campus and the Beqaa campus, in cooperation with the existing programs at Alexandria University.
The meeting was followed by a field tour by Dr. Konsowa and the accompanying delegation to inspect Alexandria University grounds in Borg El Arab, where the new campus of Beirut Arab University will be established.
