Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, inaugurated the 23rd International Dental Conference, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Diaa, President of Ain Shams University, Dr. Essam El-Kurdi, President of El Alamein International University, Dr. Mahmoud Mohi El-Din, President of Pharos University, as well as the heads of Al-Salam and Sinai Universities, the General Syndicate of Dentists, a number of members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, Vice Presidents of Egyptian Universities, and participants from Arab and foreign countries.

In his speech during the opening of the conference, Dr. Konsowa stressed that the success story within the Faculty of Dentistry is part of the success stories taking place within Alexandria University, stressing that Alexandria University works institutionally to serve the educational process. He announced that Alexandria University currently has 52 double degrees with major international universities and aims to reach 87 degrees by the end of the academic year. Dr. Konsowa added that the university also seeks to establish international branches, in line with the state's vision for higher education, alongside Alexandria Public University and external branches in Chad and South Sudan, all with quality education and global competitiveness.
 
 
 
 
Dr. Konsowa also pointed to the importance of scientific research, stressing the need for scientific research to serve the economy and society. At the end of his speech, Dr. Konsowa announced the launch of an initiative within Alexandria University funded by the university's own resources with a value of 30 million Egyptian pounds to finance a group of research and creative ideas for Alexandria University members, and part of these ideas will be the launch of the technology park for Alexandria University. He called for coming out of this conference with recommendations that can be implemented in the form of start-up companies or know how to serve the industry.

Dr. Ahmed Abdelhakim, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry and Chairman of the Conference, pointed out that this year's conference is characterized by a great scientific momentum represented by the participation of a large number of Egyptian, Arab and foreign universities, stressing the interest of the political leadership in the issues of development and scientific research, as the Ministry of Higher Education launched the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research to achieve the goals of developing education and raising its quality. He added that the Faculty of Dentistry seeks to implement the goals of the strategy in terms of developing and updating curricula, programs, examination systems and evaluation, as the philosophy of the Faculty is to establish a distinguished structure for practical and academic dental sciences according to the highest international standards in quality and scientific research for its students.

Dr. Mohamed Moataz Khamis, Professor at the Faculty and Conference Rapporteur, confirmed that this conference is one of the most important conferences in Egypt and the Middle East thanks to the efforts of the participating professors, and this year it includes 80 professors and researchers from 23 countries to present research and ideas, improve the services provided and cooperate with distinguished local and international scientific entities, with the aim of enhancing the exchange of knowledge and reviewing the latest modern technologies in the field of dentistry and providing advanced solutions to the challenges facing this field.
 
 
 
 
 
The conference hosts more than 80 lecturers and the conference program includes lectures rich in important topics on modern dental implant techniques, jaw tumor treatment, and 3D printing techniques (CADCAM), which reflects the remarkable development in the use of modern medical technology. The lectures also focus on topics of interest to a wide segment of attendees, such as dental aesthetics, the risks of smoking on oral health, and orthodontics for children.
At the end of the opening ceremony, the university president honored the presidents and vice presidents of universities, participants from different countries, and members of the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Dr. Abdelaziz Konswa, President of Alexandria University, congratulated Dr. Doaa El Dardiri Abo Elhassan Salem on the occasion of the issuance of the presidential decree appointing her as Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education for Girls, wishing her success and continued efforts to raise the level of the Faculty, and stressing the provision of all support and assistance to her for her success in performing her mission.

Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, congratulated the members of the Faculty of Nursing on the unconditional accreditation of the Faculty's Training Unit by the American Heart Association (AHA), with a grade of "Excellent," making it an officially accredited centre for providing specialized training programs in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and lifesaving.

 

The ceremony was attended by a team of representatives from the American Heart Association in the Middle East region, the dean, deputies, faculty members, and the unit's training coordinators.

 

For her part, Dr. Nefertiti Zaki, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Chairperson of the Training Unit's Board of Directors, indicated that this accreditation is the culmination of the university and faculty's efforts to support the continuing health education system and develop the capabilities of healthcare professionals in various specialties, as investing in human resources is one of the key pillars of improving healthcare services provided to citizens. She emphasized the role of the accredited training unit as a training platform at the local and international levels.

Under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and Dr. Ali Abdel Mohsen, Acting Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, the Faculty of Nursing at Alexandria University organized the Faculty's Second Scientific Student Conference, titled "Sustainable Innovation: The Path to Excellence for Nursing Students," in the Faculty's Grand Conference Hall. The conference was attended by Dr. Nefertiti Hassan Zaki, Dean of the Faculty; Dr. Hanan El-Sherbiny, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Sahar Lamada, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Awatif El-Sharkawy, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research; Dr. Salwa El-Badri, Head of the Department of Medical and Surgical Nursing and Conference Chair; Dr. Mohamed Farid Hamdy, Secretary General of the Egyptian Medical Syndicate; and a host of civil society leaders and faculty members. Students from the British University, Damanhour University, Helwan University, Mansoura University, Rashid University, the Technical Institute of Nursing, and Princess Noura bint Abdulrahman University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated.
 
 
 
 
In her speech, Dr. Nefertiti Zaki welcomed the attendees to the College of Nursing, praising the university's support, under the leadership of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, for all the faculty of Nursing's activities and events. She emphasized that the conference represents a starting point and a distinguished platform for positive interaction, the exchange of ideas and experiences, and a showcase of student creativity capable of bringing about real progress in the future of the nursing profession at the local, regional, and international levels. She emphasized the necessity of sustainable innovation in the nursing profession, which requires constant keeping pace with scientific and research developments and technological applications, and achieving the highest quality standards in healthcare provision. Students' excellence depends on their ability to think critically, work collaboratively, and innovate in the face of challenges.
 
 
 
 
Dr. Hanan El-Sherbiny noted the contribution of the participating universities in submitting 10 student research papers and 15 student research posters in the fields of sustainable development, artificial intelligence, and skills for future jobs. This helps create a rich environment for the exchange of ideas and experiences, supports collaborative learning, and stimulates innovation. She noted the faculty's commitment to organizing the conference, believing that innovation is no longer an option, but rather a necessity for achieving excellence and a foundation for sustainability in this fast-paced era. Innovation today is an integral part of professional and personal development, and a means of preparing students to become effective leaders in addressing the challenges of the healthcare sector.
 
 
 
 
Dr. Salwa El-Badry praised the broad participation in the conference from nursing faculties at Egyptian universities, which provides an opportunity to exchange experiences in nursing innovation methods in light of the remarkable advances in technology. This provides students with the opportunity to become distinguished researchers in the field of nursing, which impacts nursing services and raises the level of healthcare.
 
 
 
 
The conference discussed several topics, most notably innovation in nursing education, sustainability in nursing practices, capacity building and skills among students, partnerships, and future trends to achieve several goals, most notably promoting sustainable innovation in nursing education, highlighting the role of artificial intelligence and smart applications in nursing education and practice, encouraging student scientific research, supporting academic and professional excellence, achieving high-quality nursing education through student empowerment, enhancing collaboration between faculties to support a healthy learning environment, and reviewing successful experiences in nursing research locally and internationally. The conference featured a documentary film titled "Student Activities in Light of International Accreditation," as well as several artistic performances, student competitions, and an exhibition of student academic activities. The conference concluded with honoring the faculty members who organized the conference, the participating guests, and distinguished students academically and in terms of activities.
