Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, Dr. Abeer Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, and Dr. Maysa Youssef, Head of the Sales and Operations Follow-up Sector and Vice President of Misr Travel Company, signed a cooperation protocol, today, Wednesday, November 27, 2024, with the aim of facilitating the task of faculty members and employees at the university, in performing scientific tasks in missions and grants and participating in conferences, given the extensive experience of Misr Travel Company in the flight reservation system according to the latest global reservation systems, in addition to providing training opportunities for faculty students.

The signing of the protocol was witnessed by Dr. Hanan El-Assar, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Sarah Katat, Head of the Tourist Guidance Department at the Faculty, faculty members and their assistants, Ms. Lamia Hammam, General Manager of Branches and Sales at Misr Travel Company, Mr. Amr Youssef, General Manager of Saad Zaghloul Branch in Alexandria at Misr Travel Company, and Ms. Abeer Salah El-Din, Director of Smouha Branch at Misr Travel Company.

During her speech, Dr. Abeer Attia thanked Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa for providing full support to the Faculty to achieve this cooperation, and stated that training opportunities will be provided for students of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels at Misr Travel Company and Hotels affiliated with it, as they will be trained in flight reservations, tourism systems, hotel management and tour guidance. She added that an office will be allocated for Misr TtavelCompany at the headquarters of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels to facilitate fruitful cooperation between the two parties.
 
 
 
Dr. Maysa Youssef pointed out during her speech that Misr Travel Company will achieve more accomplishments in cooperation with the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, through organizing trips to various tourist attractions in Egypt, in addition to booking and issuing tickets for faculty members traveling on grants, scientific missions and conferences. She added that Misr Travel Company is one of the business sector companies affiliated with the Holding Company for Tourism and Cinema, and stressed that the state provides full support to the company to revive it as the first company in the tourism sector in Egypt, as there are 30 branches of the company across the republic.

Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, Dr. Hisham Saeed, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, witnessed today, Monday, November 11, 2024, the annual training on the use of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank in Egyptian universities, which is organized by the Supreme Council of Universities, in the Blue Hall at the Faculty of Nursing.
 
 
 
The lecture was attended by Dr. Nefertiti Zaki, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Dr. Awatef El-Sharkawy, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Alaa Gaafar, Director of the Digital Library Unit, Dr. Walid Ali, Representative of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, Dr. Mahmoud Shawky, Representative of the Digital Library at the Supreme Council of Universities, in addition to representatives of international and Arab publishing houses, a group of faculty members and researchers from various Egyptian universities, and directors of libraries of Alexandria University faculties.

In his speech, Dr. Hisham Saeed stressed the importance of benefiting from the Egyptian Knowledge Bank as a national project launched by the Egyptian government in 2016, which is a major qualitative leap in providing multiple and free knowledge sources for students, teachers, employees of Egyptian universities, researchers and the general public. He pointed out that the project, since its launch, has been one of the largest digital libraries in the world because it provides scientific, cultural and educational content available online at all times and covers a wide range of disciplines and fields such as natural sciences, technology, arts, history and other specializations.
 
 
 
 
 
Saeed added that one of the most prominent features of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank is that it provides scientific content in partnership with international institutions and major publishing houses such as Elsevier and others, which allows users to access scientific articles, research and educational references as well as multimedia such as educational videos and illustrations, which leads to enhancing education in Egypt, supporting scientific research and developing the intellectual skills of students and researchers, which enables them to access documented and modern knowledge sources that serve their research and studies. He pointed out that the Egyptian Knowledge Bank is a pioneering step towards building a knowledge-based society and creating an educational environment that supports innovation and contributes to preparing generations that possess the ability to think critically and contribute to the sustainable development of Egypt. In addition, the Knowledge Bank is considered a portal that supports many Egyptian journals in Egyptian universities, which is a pioneering step to bring these periodicals to the world.

While Dr. Nefertiti Zaki confirmed that digital libraries are the libraries of the future in light of the general trend in the world towards the electronic world and digital content, she pointed out that the importance of the digital library is due to its ability to preserve its holdings in machine-readable forms, obtain information easily, eliminate the time and space barrier, shorten distances, reduce financial costs and enable more than one person to view information at the same time without damage t,o the scientific content of the information. She also pointed out that Alexandria University’s Digital Library is one of the university’s development projects, aiming to develop the work of the library, making all scientific and research technologies available in digital form in order to integrate with learning and information institutions in higher education, under the umbrella of the digital library at the Supreme Council of Universities, to reach the dissemination of the culture of sustainability and link it to scientific research, enhance information awareness, and build a digital environment that keeps pace with scientific developments.

Dr. Alaa Gaafar pointed out that the Egyptian Knowledge Bank is an effective tool that supports the aspirations of academics, researchers, university students and library specialists in Egypt, and contributes to enriching scientific research. She stressed that the large attendance at this annual training reflects everyone's interest in the importance and role of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank and the Digital Library Unit and the keenness to contribute to the development of scientific research in Egypt, especially since the workshop has been held over the past eight years, which is the age of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, one of the most important pioneering national achievements in Egypt.

Representatives of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank and the Digital Library at the Supreme Council of Universities explained how to create an account on the Egyptian Knowledge Bank and how to manage it, the instructions for the procedures for applying for impact factor reports and citation checks, how to use the Egyptian Knowledge Bank and the academic search engine, a detailed explanation of the most important databases available through the bank, and an explanation of the research tools and software available through the bank.

Within the framework of the Egyptian-Chinese joint cooperation program funded by the Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority, and under the auspices of Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, representatives of the Chinese team for the joint project between the two sides, entitled "Preparation of insecticides from DNA nanoparticles and their application in pest control", visited the Faculty of Education, where they were received by Dr. Mohamed Anwar, Dean of the Faculty, and Dr. Abeer El-Wakil, the principal researcher of the project. During the meeting, opportunities for enhancing future cooperation between the two sides were discussed.

Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Higher Institute of Public Health organized its 11th international conference today, held under the title "Universal Health Coverage and its Relationship to Public Health: A Global and National Perspective". Its activities will last for two days with the participation of more than 15 Arab and foreign countries, with the aim of exchanging international and local experiences on universal health coverage and its relationship to public health and introducing participants to the variables, achievements and difficulties in implementing comprehensive health insurance, and other important health topics.
 
 
 
 
The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Heba El-Qadi, Dean of the Higher Institute of Public Health and President of the Conference, Dr. Abla El-Alfy, Deputy Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Mohamed Al-Jarallah, former Minister of Health of the sisterly State of Kuwait, Dr. Nima Saeed Abid, Representative of the World Health Organization in the Arab Republic of Egypt, in addition to a number of deans and vice deans of faculties at Alexandria University, a group of experts and specialists from the Higher Institute of Public Health, UNICEF, the World Bank, the Imperial College of England, the Islamic Organization for Medical Sciences, the Middle East Network for Community Health, the Arab Society for Public Health, the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population, the Ministry of Social Solidarity, as well as the faculties of medicine at Egyptian universities, the African Centre for Women’s Health, the Military Medical Academy, the Health Insurance Authority, the General Authority for Health Care, the General Authority for Accreditation and Health Control, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, and other local and international organizations.

In her speech, Dr. Heba El-Qadi stressed that the conference offers a rich program on comprehensive health coverage from all its medical, economic, developmental and social aspects through a group of specialists from the institute, in partnership with international expertise from international and local organizations. El-Qadi pointed out that the conference includes 14 sessions covering topics related to comprehensive health coverage, such as health insurance in Egypt, lessons learned, future prospects, health economics and financing comprehensive health coverage, digital transformation including artificial intelligence and telehealth care, electronic health records, indicators for measuring and applying comprehensive health coverage, modern laboratory technologies and comprehensive health coverage, comprehensive health coverage facilitators, challenges and possible interventions, and comprehensive health coverage for refugee, immigrant and displaced communities. At the end of her speech, she stressed that she hopes that the conference will come out with recommendations that push comprehensive health coverage towards better prospects for citizens' health.
 
 
 
 
 
Dr. Abla El-Alfy stressed the need to pay attention to the early upbringing in an individual's life, stressing that the "Golden Thousand Days in a Child's Life" initiative was launched, which provides important services to the mother and foetus so that the upbringing is healthy and sound. She pointed out that this initiative is a term that refers to the first thousand days in a child's life, stressing that attention must be paid to this initiative starting from the presence of the foetus in the mother's womb, natural birth, breastfeeding, and attention to healthy nutrition for the individual to be healthy citizens capable of giving to their country, their families, and society as a whole.
 
 
 
 
 
Dr. Nima Saeed Abid stressed that the conference topic is of utmost importance, especially since it discusses comprehensive health coverage, and reflects the shared visions between Egypt and the World Health Organization. He pointed out that he looks forward to the conference recommendations coming out in a way that serves the health service provided to citizens, especially with the Egyptian state launching the comprehensive health coverage system in 2018 to provide distinguished medical services to the Egyptian citizen, that are consistent with the global strategy and goals of sustainable development.
 
 
 
 
 
Dr. Ahmed Al-Jarallah stressed the need to pay attention to health economics and introduce this science into the field of health. Al-Jarallah praised the conference topics that cover all aspects of the health system, which are among the most important topics of the hour. He expressed his hope that the conference would come out with recommendations that are in line with the rapid health developments around the world.
