Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science Holds its Annual Symposium in Cooperation with Supreme Council of Culture
Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, Dr. Ahmed Wahban, Dean of the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science, inaugurated the symposium organized by the Faculty in cooperation with the Economics and Political Science Committee of the Supreme Council of Culture, entitled: “Paths of the Palestinian Issue in Light of the New Changes,” in which several professors of economics and political science from various Egyptian universities and institutes attended, as well as professors, faculty members, supporting staff, and students from both the departments of economics and political science.
The participants in the symposium praised the Palestinian people and the steadfastness of the people of Gaza in the face of the Zionist entity. Discussions demonstrated the impact of the Gaza War on regional security circles, the most prominent factors driving Egyptian foreign policy towards supporting the Palestinian issue, the components of the Egyptian position with regard to the Palestinian issue, and the strategic and economic importance of Gaza for Israel. Participants stressed the inevitability of the influence of political stability over economic stability, and that the solution to the Palestinian issue lies in cooperation and integration between the countries of the Arab world and Islamic countries, as well as the use of economic and political mechanisms to confront the colonial plague that Israel represents.
The symposium ended with some interventions by the students and attendees, which were answered by the lecturers.
President of Alexandria University Inaugurates Engineering Forum for Business and Jobs 2024
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University,inaugurated Saturday May 11 2024, the Engineering Forum for Business and Jobs 2024 at the Faculty of Engineering, whose activities last for two days at the faculty’s headquarters. The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Saeed Allam, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Essam. Wahba, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Walid Abdelazim, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Wael El-Meghlani, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Hisham Seoudi, Head of the Engineers Syndicate in Alexandria, in addition to a group of faculties’ deans and vice deans at Alexandria University, former university presidents, parliament members, as well as several CEOs and directors of companies and institutions in various engineering specializations.
In his speech, Dr. Konsowa stressed Alexandria University’s keenness to achieve competitiveness through international education to produce alumni capable of competing in the international, regional, and local labour markets, in addition to the university’s keenness to link the outputs of scientific research with industry, develop the field of scientific research, encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, and direct scientific research to serve society. This comes in line with the national strategy for higher education and scientific research and achieving the sustainable development goals of the Egyptian state 2030.
Dr. Konsowa pointed out that in order to achieve these strategic goals, Alexandria University has signed more than 50 double academic degrees with globally high-ranking major international universities, pointing out that the university aims to reach 100 double academic degrees with major international universities, and indicated that the international branch of Alexandria University will be ready within a year, it will be the headquarters for the management and supervision of all international programs within the university, and some of them will also be hosted there. He stressed that the university aspires to advance the educational process as it works to develop all educational laboratories for the undergraduate stage. He explained that the committee that was formed for this purpose reviewed all laboratories and equipment and evaluated them, in preparation for making the supply and completing maintenance, replacement, or purchasing new devices, in order to improve the educational process.
He added that the university also works to encourage researchers to increase applicable research related to industry, market and invest scientific research outputs to serve sustainable development and provide practical solutions for all challenges facing the industrial sector.
While Dr. Essam Wahba stressed that this forum is an important link between the Faculty of Engineering and all industrial companies and institutions in various fields, indicating that the Faculty of Engineering is the locomotive of development for society as a whole because of its participation in most of the national projects currently taking place in Egypt. He also stressed that the faculty seeks to provide a distinguished educational environment for students through launching the “Integrated Training with Industrial Companies” initiative to train students during their studies in various companies, so that they are able after graduation to join the labour market directly, and they are provided with academic and practical experience simultaneously. He pointed to the agreement that the faculty signed with Elsewedy Electric Company to achieve this purpose, and he also welcomed all companies participating in this forum to cooperate in this field.
While Dr. Walid Abdelazim confirmed that organizing this forum comes within the framework of Alexandria University’s initiatives to encourage the employment and training of university graduates and students, and to complement the educational, professional and research services provided by Alexandria University to students, and to support compatibility between academic research and industry. He stressed that this forum is attended by many major companies operating in various engineering specializations, adding that the presence of more than 40 major companies from various sectors of construction and industry confirms confidence in the faculty’s graduates and students. He also announced that the forum in its current session will witness the launch of a digital platform for employment and training that works to facilitate the journey of job and training seekers, through providing all details related to the job or training to help students decide to apply.
While Dr. Hisham Seoudi added that the passage of 22 years since this forum was launched for the first time confirms that the faculty cares about the future of its students and graduates and confirms that this forum is a well-established event at the Faculty of Engineering, as it has proven its great success in the past years. He stressed that engineers are the pride of Egypt for their participation in all national projects that are undertaken in various sectors. He also pointed out that this forum is a great opportunity for all faculty students and alumni to communicate with major companies that have an important and vital role in the Egyptian market, and provide real job opportunities for students.
Faculty of Education Signs Cooperation Protocol with Sakr Language Schools
Within the framework of Alexandria University’s keenness to serve Alexandria’s educational community, and with the approval of the University Council headed by Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, University President, Dr. Mohamed Anwar Farrag, Dean of the Faculty of Education, and Engineer Raafat Sakr, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Sakr Language Schools, signed a cooperation protocol between the two sides. This comes as part of the Faculty of Education’s pioneering role to provide its educational services to civil society institutions.
The signing ceremony was attended by Ms. Enas Ragab, Director of Sakr Language Schools, Ms. Raghda Sakr, Deputy Director of the school, Mr. Khaled Molokheya, Administrative Manager of the school, Dr. Hassan Abdeen, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education for Student Affairs, Dr. Salem Abdel Razek, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service Affairs, Ms. Aziza Shalaby, Secretary General of the Faculty, and Dr. Marwa El-Adawi, Director of the Educational Services Centre at the Faculty.
Unit for Combating Violence against Women at Alexandria University Organizes Seminar at Medical Research Institute on Physical and Psychological Abuse, How to Detect and Treat Them
The Unit for Combating Violence against Women at Alexandria University organized a seminar at the Medical Research Institute entitled “Physical and Psychological Abuse and Ways to Detect and Treat Them”, with the participation of Professor Dr. Khaled Matarawi, Acting Dean of the Institute, Vice-Dean of the Institute for Community Service Affairs, in addition to unit coordinators, several faculty members and employees of the Institute.
During the seminar, Professor Dr. Manal Fouda, Executive Director of the Unit, gave a presentation about the Unit, its most important achievements, and the services and support it provides to university members. Dr. Wafaa El-Sehli, Professor of Forensic Medicine and member of the Unit’s Board of Directors, gave a presentation on the most important forms of physical and psychological violence that have been documented globally and the widespread violent crimes. Dr. Marwa Ammar, Professor of Mental Health at the Faculty of Education, presented the most important forms of psychological violence and ways to detect and prevent them.
Constructive discussions took place between the platform and the attendees, which enriched the discussion and made it a fruitful interactive seminar.
Faculty of Education organizes the national dialogue forum “Between Prevention and Treatment” in cooperation with the Fund for Combating Addiction and Abuse
Within the framework of cooperation between the Faculty of Education, Alexandria University and the University’s Fund for Combating Addiction and Abuse, and under the auspices of Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, Faculty of Education organized the national dialogue forum, which was held under the title “Between Prevention and Treatment” in cooperation with the Fund for Combating Addiction and Abuse,” delivered by Mr. Dr. Amr Othman, First Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity and Director of the Anti-Addiction and Abuse Fund, in Hall (1) at the college headquarters.
Dr. Mohammad Anwar Farrag, Dean of the faculty of Education, indicated that the symposium was attended by faculty members and faculty students from all levels, and included active interactions and participation from the attendees and the forum’s guests, led by the participation of Dr. Mohammad Zuhdi, General Director of Al-Maamoura Psychiatric Hospital. During the forum, responses were made. For all questions and inquiries of faculty students.
