Faculty of Education Organizes Seminar on Utilizing Artificial Intelligence Applications in Scientific Research

Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdeaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Education organized a seminar entitled “Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Research,” delivered by Dr. Hebatallah Mahmoud Hegazy, teacher of Linguistics and Translation at the Faculty’s English Department, and attended by a group of Vice-deans, department heads, faculty members, supporting staff, and researchers at the faculty.
Dr. Mohamed Anwar Farrag, Dean of the Faculty, indicated that this seminar discussed the concept of artificial intelligence applications for scientific research, the advantages of these applications, the challenges they face, the role of the researcher in making optimal use of them, and ways to employ these applications practically in scientific research in both Arabic and English.
Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science Research Team Wins Second Place in Preparing Public Policy Papers Competition

Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, congratulated the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science at Alexandria University, for winning the second place in the research competition organized by the Information and Decision Support Center of the Egyptian Government, for preparing public policy papers under the title “We Think for Our Country." Participants included 43 research teams from various Egyptian universities.
The winning team of the Faculty’s Department of Economics included Dr. Abdelhalim Shaheen, Mr. Abdelkhalek Mohamed, Mr. Ahmed Magdy, Ms. Alaa El-Shazly, and Ms. Marwa Harb. Their research paper under the title: “Blue Economy Exports are an Engine for Growth: One of the Gains of the Flexible Exchange Rate Policy,” addressed five main axes about what the Blue Economy is, discussed the status of the Blue Economy in Egypt, and analyzed SWOT of Egypt’s exports from the Blue Economy, citing pioneering experiences in this field, and an executive plan to enhance Egypt’s exports from the blue economy. The paper concluded with important recommendations regarding enhancing the capacity of marine wealth exports, port and logistics services exports, and beach tourism services exports.
The award winners were announced at a ceremony organized by the Information and Decision Support Center on Monday the 18th of December 2023.
Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour Attends Inauguration of International Conference of the Department of Clinical Pathology at Alexandria University

Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research Affairs inaugurated today, Wednesday the 8th of March 2023, the activities of the Thirteenth International Conference of the Department of Clinical Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University (Alexmed Lab 2023), under the title "Opportunities and Challenges Facing Laboratory Medicine", which extends over two days, from 8 to 9 March 2023, in the presence of Major General Dr. Saria Hawam, Director of the Medical Complex at Mustafa Kamel Military Hospital, Dr. Ayman El-Shayeb, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Dr. Abla Ahmed Abu Zeid, Head of the Clinical Pathology Department at the Faculty of Medicine, and Chairman of the Conference, and Dr. Basant Moez, Professor at the Clinical Pathology Department, Faculty of Medicine and Vice President of the Conference.
In his speech, Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour praised the presence of many experts and international companies specialized in clinical pathology within the conference, which confirms its success from the beginning. He pointed out that the Department of Clinical Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University, is one of the important departments in the faculty due to the contributions and medical services it provides. He added that the department has many accredited laboratories that provide excellent services to patients. El-Ghandour added that he hopes that the conference will come out with recommendations that benefit the research community in the field of clinical pathology, especially since the sub-sessions of the conference will witness discussion of important topics in modern methods of diagnosis. El-Ghandour stated that Alexandria University is keen to encourage this type of conference to exchange experiences between different research schools, raise the efficiency of doctors and improve the level of medical services provided to patients. He praised the efforts of the organizers of the conference and their great role in advancing laboratory medicine in university hospitals at Alexandria University.
While Dr. Abla Abu Zeid confirmed that the conference will discuss the problems and challenges faced by blood banks, as well as the latest technologies in diagnosing blood tumours and noncommunicable diseases. It also includes a workshop on quality management and crisis management. Abu Zeid confirmed that a group of clinical pathology experts from Alexandria, Cairo, Ain Shams, Zagazig, Assiut, Mansoura and Tanta universities, research centres affiliated with the Egyptian Armed Forces and central laboratories at the Ministry of Health will participate in the lectures at the conference, with the participation of more than 20 local and international companies specialized in the field of clinical pathology around the world. She indicated that an exhibition will be held on the side-lines of the conference for laboratory devices and chemicals, noting that the inauguration will witness the handing over of honorary shields to the former heads of the department in gratitude for their contribution to the success of the department and the conference, where Dr. Salah Marzouk, Professor of Clinical Pathology and Honorary President of the Conference, and Dr. Dalal Abdelgelil El-Geziri, Professor of Clinical Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University, will be honoured.

Faculty of Pharmacy organizes a sports marathon for walking and cycling entitled "Running for Green"

Under the patronage of H.E. Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Pharmacy, in cooperation with the students of the Scientific Society of Faculty of Pharmacy, organized a sports marathon for walking and cycling under the title "Running for Green" within the framework of the preparations of Faculty of Pharmacy and University of Alexandria for the Climate Change Conference COP27 to be held in Sharm el-Sheikh in November 2022.

Prof. Dr. Mervat Kassem, Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, pointed out that the marathon was launched from the front of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina to the Citadel of Qaitbay with the participation of about 150 individuals, and an elite of Faculty staff members, Faculty employees, and students. She explained that the organization of the marathon came with the aim of unify the students and Faculty members as one family and to encourage the students to practice sports to improve their physical and mental health, which reflects positively on their academic performance.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Sherif Rostom, Vice Dean of Community Service and Environmental Development, stated that the marathon is part of a campaign adopted by Faculty of Pharmacy entitled "Go Green" that includes several events within the framework of the state's directions for sustainability in preserving the environment and combating climate change "Prepare for Green".
At the end of the marathon, prizes and certificates of appreciation were handed over to the winners of the top three places in both the walking and cycling competitions.

Faculty of Tourism and Hotels Organizes Educational Seminar Celebrating the Golden Jubilee of Glorious October War

Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels organized on Tuesday the 3rd of October, an educational and awareness seminar on the Glorious October War, as part of a series of activities and events organized by the university to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the victories of the Glorious October War. Participants included Major General Hashem Abul-Fadl, Operations Commander of one of the Air Defense Brigades - Air Defense Force, Major General Staff Ahmed Khairy El-Shiwi, Commander of the Tank Company of the 21st Armored Division, and Major General Mohamed El-Sayed Ahmed Taha, Assistant Head of the Reconnaissance Branch at the Command of the Parachute Unit - Parachute Corps. The seminar took place in the presence of Dr. Abeer Attia, Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Dina Ezz El-Din, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Colonel Ahmed El-Geziri, Head of the Recruitment and Mobilization Department and Director of the Military Communications Department at Alexandria University, and an elite group of leaders who lived through the October War, as well as faculty members and students of the faculty.
Major General Hashem Abul-Fadl, head of operations of one of the Air Defense Brigades - the Air Defense Force, confirmed in his speech that Egypt will live forever strong and solid, and he advised the youth to preserve their homeland and continue the march to advance our homeland, Egypt. He provided a detailed explanation of the preparations that the army made before the start of the war, and the strategic deception plan, that gave an element of surprise to the enemy to recover the beloved land of Egypt.
Major General Staff Ahmed Khairy El-Shiwi, Commander of the Tank Company of the 21st Armored Division, also confirmed that Egypt’s plans for the October War are currently being studied in war academies around the world, and during his speech he explained that the Arab countries’ solidarity with Egypt during the war helped in its success.
Major General Mohamed El-Sayed Ahmed Taha, Assistant Head of the Reconnaissance Branch at the Parachute Unit Command - Parachute Corps, clarified the reconnaissance plan in North and South Sinai to prepare for the war. He also explained the role of the commandos forces and paratroopers during the war.
In her speech, Dr. Abeer Attia, Dean of the Faculty, welcomed the attendees, the heroes of the October War, and thanked them for the sacrifices they made for the sake of our nation. She stressed that the aim of this seminar is to introduce students and new generations to the history of their fathers and grandfathers who participated in the war, and to remind them of the heroism of the great Egyptian people, the owner of civilization and history who presented an epic with the best soldiers on earth in order to restore dignity. She also emphasized that love of the homeland is inherited in the genes of the Egyptian youth, who are aware and enthusiastic about building and defending their homeland at any time.
Dr. Dina Ezz El-Din, vice dean for community service and environmental development, congratulated the students on the occasion of the anniversary of the October War and also on the start of the new academic year. She stressed that each of us is a fighter on our front and in our workplace, and added that the love of Egypt and the spirit of October exist within us forever.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Abeer Attia honored the heroes of the armed forces in attendance.
