Faculty of Science Organizes Several Events in the University’s Celebrations of the Glorious October Victory Golden Jubilee
Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and coinciding with the university’s celebrations of the golden jubilee of the victory of the glorious October War, the Faculty of Science organized on Tuesday a number of sporting, cultural and artistic activities at the faculty's plaza in Shatby.
Dr. Amani Ismail, Acting Dean of the Faculty, indicated that the activities included lining up the faculty leaders and students, performing the flag salute, and then presenting artistic performances by the faculty choir, which included a number of patriotic songs expressing the October victories, poetry competitions for the love of Egypt, holding a scientific information league, and drawing on the asphalt to express the victory of October, as well as light sports competitions.
Dr. Taher Qassem, supervisor of the Shatby Campus, Dr. Nihal El-Nahhas, activities coordinator, and officials from the faculty's Youth Welfare Department participated in the activities.
Faculty of Agriculture - El Shatby receives a delegation from the Faculty of Food Sciences, Southwest- China University
Under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, faculty of Agriculture in Shatby receives a delegation from China consisting of Dr. Du Muying and Dr. Jianquan Kan and Dr. Kewei Chen, within the framework of implementing the research project to discover and innovate functional strains of traditional fermented foods between China and Egypt.
During the visit, a meeting was held with the faculty administration, Dr. Muhammad Bahi El-Din, dean of the faculty, Dr. Heba Sabry Salama, the faculty’s dean for environmental affairs and community service, and Dr. Ahmed Mahdi, the faculty’s dean for education and student affairs. The meeting was attended by Dr. Sameh Awad, the main researcher for the project from the Egyptian side, and Dr. Amal Ahmed, the co-researcher.
The Chinese delegation also visited the Dairy Microbes and Cheese Research Laboratory, and the results obtained during the implementation of the research project in both sides (Egypt and China) were discussed, and the plan of action in the next stage, as well as the coordination of scientific publishing between the two sides.
Alexandria Engineering Journal is among the top 5% of the list of globally indexed journals
Dr. Abdelaziz Konswa, President of Alexandria University, announced that the evaluation of the Alexandria Engineering Journal, published by the international publishing house ELSEVIER, came within the top 5% of the list of globally indexed journals, and in the Q1 category, according to the evaluation of Journal Citation Reports, JCR- year 2023. The magazine is ranked 9/179 in the subspecialty “Engineering, Multidisciplinary” with an impact factor of 6.2, according to the Clarivate International Foundation announcement.
Dr.Konswa noted that the magazine's Citescore, issued by Scopus International, rose from 9.1 in 2022 to 11.2 in 2023, which is the highest since the magazine's publication date.
Faculty of Education Organizes Seminar on Utilizing Artificial Intelligence Applications in Scientific Research
Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdeaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Education organized a seminar entitled “Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Research,” delivered by Dr. Hebatallah Mahmoud Hegazy, teacher of Linguistics and Translation at the Faculty’s English Department, and attended by a group of Vice-deans, department heads, faculty members, supporting staff, and researchers at the faculty.
Dr. Mohamed Anwar Farrag, Dean of the Faculty, indicated that this seminar discussed the concept of artificial intelligence applications for scientific research, the advantages of these applications, the challenges they face, the role of the researcher in making optimal use of them, and ways to employ these applications practically in scientific research in both Arabic and English.
Discussing Cooperation between Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University, and Bauhaus University in Germany
Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour, Vice President for Graduate Studies at Alexandria University, received Dr. Frank Eckhardt, Head of the Planning and Social Studies Department at the Bauhaus University in Weimar, Germany, with the aim of discussing ways of cooperation between the Faculty of Fine Arts at Alexandria University and the Bauhaus University in Germany in areas of common interest.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Dina Mandour, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Dr. Nevin Gharib, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Sahar El-Arnaouti, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Dr. Mona El-Masry, Head of the Architecture Department, and Dr. Mai Karam, Coordinator of Cooperation with the Bauhaus University.
In his speech, Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour stressed that the Bauhaus University is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Germany, specializing in plastic arts, sculpture and architecture, which will open the way for discussing means of cooperation in the fields of architecture and fine arts between the German University and Alexandria University represented by the Faculty of Fine Arts, especially in the areas of common interest.
El-Ghandour pointed out that cooperation can also include the establishment of joint scientific degrees, the exchange of experiences, participation in scientific seminars and conferences, and student exchange whether on undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in order to connect with the international cooperation network in the various scientific and research fields.
While Dr. Frank Eckhardt confirmed that his university is keen to open prospects for cooperation with Alexandria University, which has a unique architectural heritage, pointing out that the Bauhaus University also possesses a unique architectural heritage, as the Bauhaus University building is one of the sites on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites, noting that this common historical heritage between the two universities will result in unique cooperation with Alexandria University in the fields of engineering and architecture.
