Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, Acting Vice President of Alexandria University for Education and Student Affairs, congratulated, during the Education and Student Affairs Council meeting held today, Dr. Ibrahim Rehab, emeritus professor at the Faculty of Agriculture and Advisor to the University President for African Affairs, and Dr. Sameh Nakhla, Director of the University’s Measurement and Evaluation Centre, for the decree issued by Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, to appoint them as members of the Education and Student Affairs Council.

• The university vice president stressed the importance of the role of academic advisors in providing academic support to students at the beginning of the second semester, introducing them to the educational systems and regulations, encouraging the outstanding and gifted, helping the struggling students to raise the academic level, developing the students’ personal abilities, solving their problems, and correcting their academic path. Dr. Abdelmohsen indicated the necessity of making every effort to provide facilities and overcome obstacles facing university students with special needs. He also thanked the deans and vice deans of the faculties for the good management of the examination process for the first semester, praising the level of order and discipline in the examination committees.
 
 
 
• Within the framework of the state’s strategy to combat drug addiction among youth in general and university students in particular, the university vice president directed faculty deans to launch student awareness events and initiatives to spread awareness of the danger of addiction, including giving lectures, holding educational seminars, and organizing activities in all faculties.
 
 
 
• The Council approved in principle a proposal for cooperation between the Applied Linguistics Program (English Language Division) at the Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University and the Applied Languages Program at Manchester Metropolitan University in Britain to improve the English language communication skills of the program’s students at the two universities.
 
 
 
• The Council was informed of the issues that were discussed at the Supreme Council for Education and Student Affairs, including the formation of a higher committee to improve the quality of the university e-book, and the cooperation agreement between the Supreme Council of Universities and the British Council regarding conducting and training for the International English Language Test (IELTS) with the aim of facilitating the process for students.
 
 
 
• The Council witnessed a presentation by Dr. Sameh Nakhla, Director of the University’s Measurement and Evaluation Centre, to review the university’s course results report for Fall 2023 semester.
