The President of Alexandria University Dr. Essam El Kurdi has recently received a delegation from the committee of the political consultancy conference of Shanghai government headed by Mr. Hon Dung Yun. The meeting was attended by Mrs. Gao Lee Ying the General Consul of China in Alexandria in presence of Alexandria University deputies Dr. Hisham Gaber and Dr. Mukhtar Youssef. The attendants discussed available cooperation chances and possibility of exchanging expertise in academic and scientific fields.

Dr. Essam El Kurdi stated that Alexandria University is keen on cooperation with Shanghai University to establish Confucius Institute for teaching Chinese language to respond to the great demand of Egyptian students to study Chinese. He also underlined starting a new program to study Chinese in the Faculty of Arts.

The Rector also declared that the university has received 100 Chinese students this year to study in Arabic Teaching Center and hailed exchanging faculty members between the two sides.

The president of the Chinese delegation emphasized the intention of Shanghai University to cooperate with Alexandra University as the Chinese university has 64 faculties and already cooperates with 150 universities around the world as well it receives Arab students.
