The Faculty of Medicine of Alexandria was Established in the the modern era under the decision of King Farouk I in 1942 and it was made with tremendous efforts from the (Ibrahim Pasha) and Professor of Surgery (Mohammad Mahfouz your) Professor of eyes. And have been used Abbasid secondary school to teach academic subjects and Amiri Hospital for clinical teaching of and began teaching in the academic year 1943, and the number of graduates of the first batch of modern Alexandria School of Medicine, four doctors and the number of graduates in 2006 to 1071 graduates.

The Faculty of Dentistry continues to be an advocate and leader in improving the oral health care for the patients in Alexandria and neighboring cities. The Faculty harbors a well-equipped health care center with up-to-date operating theaters for oral as well as maxillo-facial surgeries. The Faculty is providing free dental treatment for the patients that serve for supervised training for its students. It is an opportunity to serve the society, especially, the under-privileged who cannot afford the high cost for quality dental treatment. The Faculty plays an important role in increasing the awareness among people who live in areas lacking the appropriate care especially among limited income families with developmental disabilities.

Graduate works as a member of the health team which includes doctors, nurses, Dietitian, and physical therapy and technicians of various specialties, pharmacists and other auxiliary groups. The graduate through this team provides direct nursing care to patients and their families and those with health needs.

The faculty was founded in 1974. Study started in the academic year 1975/1976 at one of the royal palaces in Edfina, Behera province with a capacity of 50 students. The faculty provides veterinary medical services for the purpose of fostering the animal resources and increasing the awareness among the members of the community. Several centers are affiliated with, the faculty, provide poultry and animal treatment services to individuals, and institutes.

The need for a specialized institution for medical research to address health problems of national concern was recognized in the early 1950's. Plans were subsequently drawn and a presidential decree was issued in 1957 for the establishment of the Medical Institute to be located in Alexandria. This institute was later attached to the National Research Center and the Ministry of Scientific Research. Since its establishment it has been housed in the same building it occupies today at 165, Horreya Avenue, Hadara, Alexandria .The laboratories of the institute were prepared and work in July 1963 as Medical Research Institute.
