Dr. Essam El Kurdy, the President of Alexandria received the Ambassador of India in Egypt Mr. Sangai Patateshria.  The parties discussed ways of enhancing cooperation between Alexandria University and Indian universities especially information technology and to make use of Pan Africa Network hosted by Alexandria University and servicing 38 African countries in remote education, training and medical consultancy fields.

 Dr. El Kurdy stressed on the deep historical relationships between Egypt and India, and welcomed the Indian students to study in AU. The Rector appreciated the proposal of creating a program to study Indian languages in the Faculty of Arts. He also added that in the frame of economic and investment relationships between the two countries we must pay attention to Indian language for more cooperation.

AU Vice President for Education and Students Affairs Dr. Hisham Gaber emphasized the university concern to keep up with technological developments and indicated that the university started to spread the e-book application in several faculties. He pointed out the possibility of cooperation to provide competency programs in information technology.

The Indian Ambassador highlighted the chances of cooperation to organize mutual visits for students from the two sides and establishing laboratories for English language and information technology that shall enhance the scientific and cultural exchange between the two countries.

 The Indian Ambassador accompanied AU President in a visit to the Faculty of Arts to attend the activities of the Indian Cultural Day and they held a meeting with university students to talk about scholarships and study opportunities in the Indian universities.
